Cellophane Skin

Spring is all about light-reflective skin, luminous textures and see-through formulations.

It may not be the first thing that springs to mind when you're trying to describe that dewy-textured, luminous skin that inhabits the world of magazines. But cellophane skin is how the must-have complexion of the moment has been described by make-up artists and facialists in the know. Eyelids that have a gossamer sheen, lips that are subtly wet-look and skin that looks like it has been given one coat of gloss varnish are all staples of this season.  At Donna Karan, make-up artist Charlotte Tilbury patted moisturiser onto the skin to create the desired cellophane effect, while at Erdem, Val Garland mixed two shades of Francois Nars' The Multiple, £29, in Luxor and Copacabana to create a pearly skin that suggested an "outdoorsy glow".  For a hint of shine, follow Charlotte's lead and dab Charlotte Tilbury Charlotte's Magic Cream Treat & Transform Moisturiser SPF 15, £70, onto cheekbones, the centre of the chin and down the bridge of your nose. Go easy! You want a subtle sheen, not an oil slick.
