Being low-maintenance when it comes to beauty routines, it will come as no surprise that dry shampoo is a staple in my kit. Trouble is, finding one that actually does the trick without making my hair look powdery or feel like straw isn’t easy. Batiste Dry Shampoo, £4.99, has been a firm favourite for years. A great on-the-go rescue for hair that’s looking flat and feeling in need of a refresh, it’s the perfect budget buy. I’m also a fan of Klorane Oatmilk Dry Shampoo Spray, £8. With the added benefits of being paraben-free and hypoallergenic, this gentle spritz-on cleanser is great for quick day-to-evening make-overs when you don’t have time to wash and blow-dry but need hair to feel ‘fresh’.
But when it comes to the “King” of dry shampoos, my hair hero is Swell Ultimate Volume Dry Shampoo, £20, created by homeopath Jonathan Stallick and leading London hairdresser, Andrew Bidwell. Not only does it smell delicious (thanks to the blend of rose geranium and ylang ylang essential oils), it also contains thickening Dong Quai and Wild Yam and the essential ingredient - oil-absorbing rice starch. And even better, the non-aerosol pump-action delivery system delivers just the right amount of powder – enough for up to 65 days of use.
